What is scott island?

Scott Island is a small uninhabited volcanic island located in the Southern Ocean. It is located about 505 km (313 miles) northeast of Cape Adare, Antarctica and is part of the Ross Dependency of New Zealand.

The island was discovered by a British naval expedition under the command of Robert Falcon Scott in 1902. It is characterized by its active volcanic nature, with the last known eruption occurring in 2011.

Scott Island is notable for its rich biodiversity. It is home to a breeding population of Adélie penguins, as well as various species of seabirds including southern fulmars, Antarctic petrels, and Wilson's storm petrels.

The island's remote location and harsh weather conditions make it difficult to access, with only a handful of expeditions having landed on the island. There are currently no research stations or human habitation on Scott Island.
